Welcome to the wedding of Charlie & Becky!

What a delight it was to paint for this couple and what a beautiful wedding it was. I know Charlie & Becky from the teaching world so I had the added pleasure of seeing two friends get married too which was really special!

They had chosen the stunning Tower Hill Barns for their venue – a luxury, rustic barn located in the rolling Welsh countryside in Llangollen. Wales has always had a special place in my heart having holiday-ed there many a time and its beauty never ceases to impress me.

Tower Hill Barns boast both stunning indoor and outdoor options for holding your ceremony. Due to the indecisive weather, they were set up for both eventualities for the couple, but luckily the rain held off and Charlie & Becky were able to complete their vows under the beautifully restored Old Bridge, formally used as a railway line until the 1960s. If it wasn’t a 3 hours’ drive from my hometown, I would absolutely be making this a regular venue to paint more weddings at! Their wedding coordinator, G, was so welcoming and wonderful; I really felt like I’d been welcomed with open arms!

As per every wedding I attend, I didn’t manage to get through the ceremony without shedding a tear. Seeing a couple declare their love for each other is just one of the most special parts of a wedding for me and this one was no different. They were positively beaming as they strolled back down the aisle, through a curtain of bubbles.

Charlie & Becky are quite the adventurers, having visited and lived in many places across the world, and chose to theme their wedding around this. Each table featured a different destination, images of the couple, and little nods to each country’s culture. I thought this was such a personable touch that really reflected them as a couple.

The speeches were beautiful and touching, followed by the MOST INCREDIBLE food courtesy of the very talented chefs at Tower Hill Barns! I particularly loved their choice of having a giant Colin the Caterpillar as their wedding cake! Might be borrowing that idea for when my times comes!!

The first round of musical entertainment was provided in the form of singing waiters! What a fantastic and hilarious way to get everyone up and in the party mood! These guys then returned later for a second round to entertain the guests well into the evening with live music.

Being the first wedding of the 2024 season, there were naturally a few nerves making sure I remembered what to do, but this was honestly the best day I could have asked for to get back into the swing of painting.

A huge congratulations to Charlie & Becky as they start their new chapter together.
